This program is unique being the first in the country that offers the opportunity for a blended learning approach between academic study and practical training in all areas of cosmetic science. Among these areas are manufacturing and marketing of cosmetic and skin care products. The graduates of this program will be qualified to work in all the areas related to this specialization.
The progrm is divided over four academic years with a total of 140 credit hours in which the student studies courses in various scientific and practical disciplines. The course work includes basic sciences, medical and pharmaceutical sciences related to cosmetic products manufacturing and development. The graduates will be provided with the necessary knowledge and training to be qualified to work in various areas of cosmetic sciences such as skin care principles, communication and management skills, and the regulations governing cosmetic products. The graduates will also be provided with the clinical skills to assist physicians in the use of hair transplant and skin care devices and systems. The program includes field training in three major basic areas in cosmetics: cosmetic manufacturing and import businesses, pharmacies (cosmetics section), skin care centers, and dermatology clinics.
This program is a unique and distinct program where the graduate gets the degree of bachelor in Cosmetics and Skin Care. The graduates are qualified to practice the profession as specialists in the field of cosmetics and skin care who are able to participate in the development of the profession from the industrial and cosmetic aspects, through their ability to employ scientific and practical principles to serve themselves and their societies.
General Aims:
The program aims to achieve a set of goals, including:
- Providing students with the necessary knowledge in cosmetics and skin care
- Developing students' professional and practical skills in the fields of manufacturing and marketing cosmetics and skin care.
- Developing students ’professional and practical skills in the fields of using and marketing relevant devices in this area
- Meeting the needs of the local and regional labor market for graduates who are able to work in the cosmetics and skin care industry with its various specializations.
- Keeping up with the developments in the labor market by developing relevant academic programs.
- Encouraging and developing the competencies of faculty members and scientific research in this field.
- Employing local and global resources to serve the local and regional community.
Specific Aims:
- Educating students with the principles of cosmetology, hair care and skin care
- Introducing students to the foundations of aesthetics, the theories and techniques of color, and the chemistry, biology and fundamentals of cosmetology, among others
- Qualifying specialists with a bachelor’s degree skilled in the fields of cosmetics and skin care.
- Providing students with extensive skills and experience in the fields of beauty center management.
- Qualifying students to work in cosmetics sales centers by providing them with the skills of the art of management and customer service skills.
- Introduce students to occupational safety and health requirements for the profession of cosmetology.
- Introducing students to diseases of the skin, hair, mouth and teeth, and ways to treat them, in continuous cooperation and coordination with specialized doctors.
- Preparing students to work in the local market through intensive training in the fields of cosmetics, hair care and skin.
