The Medical Education, Staff Development, and Appraisal Unit successfully organized a virtual training session titled Rubric Development and Analysis on Monday, February 17, 2025. The session, conducted via Zoom, was led by Eng. Tamer Haddad, an instructor in the Industrial Engineering Program at An-Najah National University and the coordinator of the Rawabi campus. Eng. Haddad, who has been teaching since 2010, brings extensive experience in faculty development, particularly in rubric assessment. His involvement with the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) has focused on improving student evaluation by promoting clear, structured, and objective assessment criteria.


The training aimed to equip participants with essential skills in rubric design and application. The key objectives of the session included:

  1. Designing Effective Rubrics – Participants learned to construct structured and objective rubrics tailored to various assessment types and learning outcomes.
  2. Evaluating and Refining Rubrics – The session provided an opportunity to analyze existing rubrics, identify areas for improvement, and modify criteria to enhance reliability and fairness in assessments.
  3. Applying Rubric-Based Assessment – Attendees explored best practices in implementing rubrics for grading, ensuring consistency, and providing constructive feedback to support student learning.

The workshop provided valuable insights into rubric development and underscored the importance of structured assessment tools in enhancing the quality and fairness of student evaluations. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, allowing participants from different specialties to share their experiences and seek guidance on refining their rubric-based assessment approaches.
