As part of their clinical training in community medicine, sixth-year medical students from An-Najah National University recently organized two impactful educational activities at the Primary Healthcare (PHC) centers in Nablus. These initiatives, conducted under the supervision of Dr. Souad Belkebir, a preventive medicine specialist from the Department of Family and Community Medicine at An-Najah National University, and in collaboration with Ministry of Health (MoH) family medicine specialists, aimed to address key health topics within the community.

The first activity, held on 24th February 2025, focused on “When Should a Child Start Fasting?” The students engaged in open discussions with parents attending the PHC clinics, addressing the appropriate age for children to begin fasting, the potential advantages and disadvantages of fasting for children, and practical advice for parents to ensure their children’s health and well-being during fasting periods. The session provided a platform for parents to ask questions and share their concerns, fostering a better understanding of this important topic.

The second activity, held on 26th February 2025, centered on “Effective Insulin Administration for Diabetic Patients.” The students provided diabetic patients with essential skills and techniques for the safe injection of insulin. Through hands-on demonstrations and educational materials, participants learned about proper injection methods, storage of insulin, and how to manage potential side effects. This activity aimed to empower patients with the knowledge and confidence needed to manage their condition effectively.

Both activities were well-received by the community, with attendees expressing appreciation for the students’ efforts and the practical information provided. Dr. Souad Belkebir praised the students for their dedication and professionalism, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in bridging the gap between medical education and community health needs.

These activities highlight the vital role of medical students in promoting public health and demonstrate the strong collaboration between An-Najah National University and the Ministry of Health in serving the community. Such efforts not only enhance the students’ clinical and communication skills but also contribute to improving health awareness and outcomes in the Nablus region.
