
The Medical Education, Staff Development, and Appraisal Unit at the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Medical Sciences recently hosted an engaging virtual training session titled "Best Practices in Communication within the Field of Medical Education".
Presented by Dr. Liz Forty, Dr. Athanasios Hassoulas, Dr Lucy Morris, Dr Ian Cooper, Dr Ceri Evans from Cardiff University and moderated by Dr. Souad Belkebir, the session drew around 40 attendees who actively participated in interactive discussions and small group activities.
The trainers employed dynamic methods to enhance learning, dividing participants into groups to foster collaboration and reflection. Faculty members were highly engaged, exploring key principles of effective educator-learner communication, reflect on their individual communication style and strategies to improve their interactions in clinical and academic settings. The session, held on May 13, 2025, via Zoom, successfully highlighted the importance of communication skills in medical professionalism.
