Description:
This unit is dedicated to developing academic staff knowledge, skills, and professional competencies while establishing clear mechanisms to evaluate and enhance their performance. The unit facilitates continuous medical education (CME), supports curriculum development, improves teaching and assessment practices, fosters reflective appraisal processes, and strengthens the overall teaching and learning environment.

Additionally, the unit contributes to maintaining and improving specialization/program accreditation by ensuring that teaching practices, curriculum development, assessment methods, and faculty development activities align with national and international standards required for program-level accreditation.

Objectives:

  • Enhance faculty knowledge, skills, and competencies through professional development programs.
  • Implement a fair and developmental performance appraisal system, including reflective practice and Personal Development Plans (PDPs).
  • Support curriculum development and review to ensure alignment of learning outcomes, teaching methods, and assessments.
  • Assist staff in improving teaching and assessment quality through training in modern pedagogy, technology-enhanced learning, and evidence-based assessment practices.
  • Supporting faculty development and curriculum practices that meet accreditation standard

Description:
This unit ensures that the faculty’s educational, research, and service activities are socially accountable and responsive to the health needs of Palestinian communities. It promotes ethical, safe, and community-oriented practices in teaching, research, and community engagement, in alignment with An-Najah University’s mission of serving society and fostering sustainable development. The unit also reviews community-related, research-related, and outreach activities to ensure they comply with ethical standards, safety guidelines, and best practices that protect students, faculty, and community members.

Objectives:

  • Integrate social accountability principles into curricula, teaching, research, and community engagement.
  • Ensure all faculty and student activities follow established ethical and safety standards, including research ethics, community engagement safety protocols, and responsible conduct.
  • Align educational programs and research projects with community health priorities and societal needs.
  • Develop partnerships with healthcare institutions, government agencies, and civil society to collaboratively address local health challenges.
  • Review and monitor outreach, research, and educational activities to ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and safety measures.
  • Evaluate the impact of socially accountable and ethically guided initiatives on community health, student learning, and societal well-being.

Working closely with the development, appraisal, curriculum, accreditation, and social accountability units, it collects and analyzes data on teaching, learning, faculty development, and community engagement. The unit produces clear reports and reflections that help identify strengths, address gaps, and support informed decision-making at faculty and program levels.

Objectives:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data on faculty performance, student outcomes, curriculum quality, and community-related activities.
  • Provide evidence-based insights to support strategic planning, policy development, and accreditation requirements.
  • Facilitate reflective practice among faculty and students through structured feedback and analytical summaries.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of faculty development, appraisal processes, curriculum improvements, and social accountability initiatives.
  • Deliver timely reports and dashboards that guide continuous quality enhancement across the faculty.
