On Sunday, October 30th, 2016, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in cooperation with the American Corner Nablus of the International Office at An-Najah hosted Dr. Janette Samaan, Senior Founding Director of Global Health Learning Opportunities Collaborative Association of the American Medical Colleges.

Dr. Samaan was accompanied with her husband and Ms Sana Itayim, Academic Advisor for the West Bank and Jerusalem for all US Academic programmes.

 

In the beginning, the guests met with Dr. Imad Dweikat, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at his office were heads of the faculty’s departments were present.

Dr. Dweikat introduced the delegation to the faculty’s departments and units in addition to An-Najah National University Hospital’s departments and infrastructure. He also talked about the faculty’s objectives and future aspirations.

 

After the meeting, Dr. Samaan gave a lecture to the faculty students where she talked about studying medicine in the US and other parts of the world through GHLO.

She explained to interested students the application process for studying medicine abroad, admission conditions and the names of medical colleges GHLO deals with.

At the end of the lecture, Dr. Samaan answered the students’ questions on the matter.

 

Dr Janette Samaan received her PhD in International Higher Education Administration, Masters of Arts in International Affairs and Bachelors in Psychology and French. Currently, Dr. Samaan serves as the Founding Senior Director for the Global Health Learning Opportunities Association of American Medical Colleges. She has previously served as the Assistant Vice Chancellor of International and Exchange Programmes at the University of Hawaii.
