
As part of the "Nursing Community Health and Clinical Public Health" course, fourth-year nursing students from the Department of Nursing and Midwifery at An-Najah National University organized a series of educational health awareness sessions. The initiative, which aimed to enhance students’ understanding of critical health issues, was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Shurooq Qadous, faculty member at the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, and clinical instructor Rami Al-Qasas, in collaboration with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
The awareness sessions were held at Askar Girls' School and focused on students from grades six to nine. The activities covered a wide range of essential health topics, providing students with practical knowledge on:
- First Aid: Training students in critical first aid techniques, including managing choking, wounds, burns, fractures, and cases of poisoning.
- Respiratory Diseases: Educating students about common contagious diseases that affect the respiratory system, along with preventive measures.
- Dangers of Energy Drinks and Unhealthy Eating: Discussing the harmful effects of energy drinks, carbonated beverages, and unhealthy dietary choices.
- School Violence: Addressing the various forms of violence in schools and promoting ways to prevent and respond to it.
- Diabetes Awareness: Offering guidance on the prevention, management, and care of diabetic patients, as well as strategies to prevent the onset of diabetes.
At the conclusion of the sessions, the organizing team expressed their appreciation to Mrs. Izdihar Abu Keshk, principal of the First Askar Girls' School, for her warm reception and effective coordination. The team also underscored the importance of continuing such awareness initiatives to promote ongoing collaboration and provide valuable health education to students.
