
As part of the "Nursing Community Health and Clinical Public Health" course, fourth-year nursing students from An-Najah National University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences conducted a series of comprehensive educational and awareness sessions at UNRWA’s Balata Elementary and Preparatory Girls' School. The initiative aimed to promote health education and foster greater awareness of key health and safety issues among students.
The sessions were conducted under the guidance of Dr. Shurooq Qadous, a faculty member in the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, and clinical instructor Sahar Salha. The program covered a wide range of important topics, each designed to enhance students' understanding of personal well-being and public health practices, including:
- The Importance of Morning Exercise – Highlighting the benefits of regular physical activity for overall health.
- “Don’t Touch Me” – A session raising awareness about harassment and personal boundaries.
- Bullying Prevention – Sharing real-life experiences and offering strategies to reduce bullying in schools.
- Personal Hygiene During Puberty – Educating students on maintaining hygiene during developmental changes.
- Eye Health – Offering basic eye health checks and discussing the importance of regular eye care.
- First Aid Training – Teaching essential first aid techniques to respond to common injuries.
- Healthy vs. Unhealthy Eating – Discussing the impact of diet on health and diseases linked to poor nutrition.
- Diabetes Awareness – Raising awareness about diabetes, its risks, and preventive measures.
- Impact of Mobile Phones on Academic Performance – Exploring how excessive mobile phone use can affect focus and learning outcomes.
The school’s administration, represented by the principal, expressed deep appreciation for the valuable insights provided by the sessions. They also emphasized the importance of continuing such collaborative initiatives between the university and the local community to ensure students receive enriching educational experiences that contribute to their overall development.
