
In an initiative to strengthen international medical education, An-Najah National University is exploring collaboration with Mexico to enhance training and expertise exchange within the healthcare sector. On October 14, 2024, Dr. Faris Abu Shamma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, met with the Mexican Ambassador to Palestine, Mr. Pedro Blanco Pérez, in Ramallah. Also attending was Ms. Amal Burbar from An-Najah’s International Relations Office.
During the meeting, Dr. Abu Shamma highlighted An-Najah’s commitment to expanding global partnerships to advance academic and research collaborations, especially in medicine and health sciences. He underscored the university's goal to create meaningful international connections that enhance the training and knowledge exchange of its medical students and professionals.
Ambassador Pérez praised An-Najah University for its achievements, stating, “An-Najah is a leading academic institution in the region, and we are eager to collaborate to enrich medical education and expertise exchange. This cooperation will open new doors for Palestinian medical personnel to benefit from the latest technologies and practices, which will ultimately enhance healthcare in Palestine.” He emphasized that this visit represents the beginning of a broader partnership aimed at deepening cooperation in healthcare training and development.
Key topics of discussion included the organization of intensive training programs for An-Najah’s medical graduates and staff in Mexican hospitals and medical centers, as well as the exchange of medical delegations between Palestine and Mexico. Both parties expressed a commitment to developing collaborative initiatives across various medical fields, aiming to improve healthcare services in Palestine and ensure Palestinian medical personnel are trained according to the latest global standards.
This prospective partnership aligns with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences’ strategy to expand its global network, advancing health education and training in Palestine by incorporating international best practices and innovations in medical care.
