Throughout Pink October, the Nursing and Midwifery Department at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences organized a series of impactful awareness activities under the theme "Breast Cancer Prevention." These initiatives, part of the Maternal Health Nursing course (1): Labor, Genetics, and Clinical Embryology, were coordinated by Dr. Shorooq Qadous and involved hands-on student engagement to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention, early detection, and self-examination.

The awareness campaign began on October 18, 2024, when a group of third-year Nursing students, under the guidance of instructor Ms. Shahd Mar'i, visited Jenin Governmental Hospital. There, they conducted an awareness session focused on the importance of breast self-examination and early detection, which are critical for timely treatment and intervention.

The activities continued on October 19, 2024, at the Arab Women's Union Hospital, where three student groups, supervised by instructors Ms. Heba Saidi, Ms. Sjood Abu Baker, and Ms. Sawsan Hamad, conducted educational sessions. The focus was on the importance of breast cancer prevention, self-examination, early detection, and regular screening as essential components in maintaining health and managing breast cancer effectively.

On October 23-24, 2024, under the guidance of Ms. Jihan Bishawi and in collaboration with the Postpartum Department at St. Luke's Hospital, students led activities under the slogan "Screen and Reassure Us About You." These events featured educational video presentations, distribution of informational brochures, and hands-on demonstrations on breast self-examination techniques, aiming to educate women and their companions about the significance of regular mammograms.

The final event took place on October 25, 2024, at Nablus Specialized Hospital, where female students, under the supervision of instructor Ms. Sujood Al-Sakhl, delivered an awareness lecture. This session provided valuable insights into breast cancer prevention, coping strategies, and practical tips for managing the disease.

Through these activities, the Nursing and Midwifery Department reinforced its commitment to community health by empowering women with knowledge and tools for breast cancer prevention, contributing to a healthier and more informed society.
