Overview

The Postgraduate Unit at the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Medical Sciences (FMAS) at An-Najah National University is committed to promoting capacity building and lifelong learning for its medical degree graduates. The unit is dedicated to advancing medical education and creating empowered graduates capable of meeting the demands of the health sector by focusing on professional development, leadership, and social responsibility while providing specialized research opportunities, workshops, and training sessions.

The unit ensures graduates continually improve their skills, ethical practices, and patient care through ongoing professional development.

The unit will work closely with other units and centers, including the Academic and Professional Development Center.

Purpose

The purpose of the Postgraduate Unit is to develop leaders in the medical field by supporting graduates in their transition from academic education to real-life practice, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to meet the ever-evolving demands of healthcare. The unit aims to build the graduates’ capacity to tackle healthcare challenges effectively. Additionally, the Postgraduate Unit focuses on developing specialists who are committed to social responsibility. It actively advocates for the allocation of essential resources to significantly enhance residency education and placements, ensuring that medical residents have the support needed to thrive. Moreover, the unit addresses social accountability to guarantee that the healthcare needs of the Palestinian community are met.

Scope

Graduates of the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Allied Sciences at An-Najah National University’s Medical Program.

Responsibilites 

  • Providing postgraduate training and empowering graduates by overseeing orientations, workshops, leadership training, and career progression initiatives that focus on improving clinical practice, leadership skills, and residency placements.
  • Facilitating graduates' applications to residency and specialty programs nationally and internationally, and providing guidance throughout their residency, including identifying, monitoring, and addressing issues through ongoing improvement, ensuring they are well-prepared to enter advanced healthcare roles.
  • Supporting professional and academic development by creating a collaborative environment, connecting graduates with other universities, hospitals, and institutes, and fostering personal growth and capacity building.
  • Encouraging students to engage in research projects and facilitating their access to resources.
  • Assisting graduates with the licensing and certification processes, including preparing for local, regional, and international exams.
  • Keeping graduates updated on both local and international accreditation requirements and involving them in decision-making when necessary.
  • Encouraging graduates to participate in initiatives that promote social responsibility.
  • Allocating the MD program academic and professional needs, and secure opportunities for candidates to be enrolled based on the Recruitment, Scholarship and Capacity-Building Policy for the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Medical Sciences.
