In a significant milestone, Dr. Iman Al-Shawish of An-Najah National University has achieved the remarkable distinction of becoming the first Palestinian woman to be appointed as an external evaluator for accreditation programs at the Association of Arab Universities. Her selection follows a rigorous process that adheres to the principles and regulations of the Association of Arab Universities.


Dr. Al-Shawish's journey to this prestigious role involved surpassing multiple stages, encompassing training, selection, and a competitive assessment. Over 100 participants from across the Arab world took part in these stages, with the pass rate not exceeding 20%. Dr. Al-Shawish's exceptional performance throughout all stages showcased her high efficiency and expertise.

Expressing her gratitude, Dr. Al-Shawish extended her thanks to the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Prof. Amr Izzat Salameh, as well as the international trainer, Hussein Al-Maghrabi. She also acknowledged the collaborative efforts of her fellow Arab academic colleagues who contributed to the success of this program. Notably, the State of Palestine's inclusion among the host countries for higher education institutions and programs in Arab universities stands as a remarkable achievement.

Dr. Al-Shawish underscored the consistent support provided by An-Najah National University. She extended her appreciation to Prof. Abdel Nasser Zaid, University President, Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Khayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Deanship of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Department of Nursing and Midwifery for their unwavering backing.

Dr. Al-Shawish holds the position of Associate Professor and is equipped with a Ph.D. in Maternal and Child Health obtained from England. She assumes the leadership role of the Department of Midwifery, Pediatric Nursing, and Women's Health at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at An-Najah National University. Furthermore, she is recognized as an Associate Fellow for British Academic Higher Education, aligned with the UK Professional Standards Framework for Teaching.
