An-Najah National University takes immense pride in announcing yet another remarkable achievement by one of its distinguished students. Ikram Qasim, a Master’s student in clinical biochemistry, received the prestigious Best Poster Award at the Twelfth Palestinian International Conference on Laboratory Medicine, held under the supervision of Dr. Iyad Al-Ali. The conference featured wide Arab and international participation and served as a platform for showcasing groundbreaking research in laboratory medicine.


The title of Ikram Qasim's award-winning poster was: "Frequency of Red Cell Alloimmunization in Hematological Malignancies in West Bank, Palestine." This poster not only represented her master’s thesis but also stood out as the best among numerous exceptional submissions at the conference.

In her research, Qasim delved into the latest scientific developments across various specialties of laboratory medicine, with a specific focus on leukemia patients in Palestine. She articulated the aim of her study as follows: "The aim of this study is to investigate the rate and characteristics of the formation of antibodies to red blood cells, in addition to risk factors among patients diagnosed with malignant blood tumors, primarily leukemia and multiple myeloma, in Palestine."

Ikram Qasim's dedication to advancing medical knowledge doesn't stop here. She aspires to continue her journey of academic and scientific excellence, with a particular focus on research related to patients with blood cancers and thalassemia. Her ambition includes pursuing a doctorate in various medical specialties, further solidifying her commitment to achieving scientific and humanitarian goals.

Ikram Al-Qassem hails from Jenin Governorate and currently serves as the head of the Laboratory Department at An-Najah Medical Clinics. Her pursuit of excellence dates back to her bachelor’s degree in medical and laboratory sciences, where she consistently earned top honors in her faculty. Presently, she is diligently working towards completing the requirements for her master’s thesis.
