In a significant stride towards elevating midwifery education standards, the Department of Nursing and Midwifery at An-Najah University is proud to be part of a pioneering initiative in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund and Juzoor For Health & Social Development. This collaborative effort is geared towards the formation of a national team representing Palestinian universities offering academic programs for midwifery education.

United under the shared goal of enhancing maternal healthcare and promoting academic excellence, Juzoor for Health & Social Development, alongside concerned Palestinian universities, has facilitated the creation of a proficient national team. This team is tasked with a comprehensive review of the content of Bachelor's programs in midwifery within the West Bank. The overarching objective is to align the educational content with international standards endorsed by the International Confederation of Midwives. This strategic enhancement aims to cater to the multifaceted needs of both women seeking quality midwifery care and the Palestinian health system while adhering to the unique local context.

The inaugural meeting, held on Monday, August 14, 2023, marked a pivotal moment as academic luminaries convened to spearhead this transformative initiative. Dr. Aida Al-Qaisi, Dr. Iman Al-Shawish, and Ms. Rahija Awni from the Department of Nursing and Midwifery at An-Najah University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences graced the occasion. Their presence underscored the University's commitment to driving impactful change in midwifery education.

At the heart of the gathering was the constitution of the national team itself. Comprising professionals, including members of the academic staff from various midwifery programs within the University, this team is entrusted with the meticulous review of the midwifery program's curriculum. Their collective expertise will contribute to refining and aligning the curriculum to the international standards. This collaborative effort emphasizes active engagement, demonstrated through regular meetings and thorough assessment, ultimately culminating in the successful execution of this significant undertaking.
