Respiratory care is one of the programs offered by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science at An-Najah National University, it was established Due to the enormous need for advancement in the health sectors that the globe and the nation desire, there is an urgent need for specialization in all branches of medicine. The respiratory care specialty was selected to focus on respiratory diseases and the diagnoses and treatment related to them.

This specialty was approved by the Ministry of Health in December 2019, there was a need to cover the local needs within the intensive care units, cardiac care, pediatric intensive care units and emergency units in Palestinian hospitals.

Local, regional and global leadership in the field of training, education, scientific research and national excellence in the field of community service, and working on training and developing cadres specialized in respiratory care and qualifying them to keep pace with the continuous development in the medical and health fields.

Teaching and training graduates of the Respiratory therapy Program to qualify them with the highest level of competence and expertise in the field, in line with the respective requirements of the profession.

The program has been developed to provide a graduate in respiratory care with a multitude of competencies that include professional values, communication, teamwork, patient care practice, leadership and management, research and evidence-based practice.

Successful completion of 136 credit hours, including university requirements, college compulsory and elective requirements as stated in the study plan.

The student must successfully complete the required courses within a minimum period of 4 years.

  • The minimum passing mark for each course is 60%.
  • A student who does not pass a course (achieved D- or below) is allowed to repeat the failed course up to two times.
  • students are allowed to retake any course to raise their grade point average (GPA).

 

 

Graduates of this program are referred to as respiratory care specialists and are part of the medical team responsible for diagnosing and following up on the treatment of patients of all ages, including adults, children, and newborns, who suffer from heart and respiratory disorders.
